The Palestinian militant group Hamas has ruled out renewing

 a unilateral ceasefire with Israel.

 In an interview with the BBC, a Hamas leader, 

Abdel Aziz Rantissi, said the group would be willing 

to stop targeting Israeli civilians,

 but only if Israel stopped, what he called, 

its aggression against Palestinians.

Abdel Aziz Rantissi has been in hiding since Israel 

attempted to kill him in an helicopter strike in June.

 Now, amid speculation that the Palestinian authority

 wants to talk to militant groups about a truce, 

he has stated Hamas’s position. 

The group will consider stopping attacks on Israeli civilians,

 but has ruled out a unilateral ceasefire

 of a kind declare earlier this year.

 He said such a step couldn’t be taken while what he

 called Israeli aggression continued.
