参考一:How to balance job responsibilities and personal interests(利益)

Hardly can people undertake job responsibilities that never violate their personal interests. The most common example is working overtime. In most cases, they complain about , or even resent a conflict between their job responsibilities and their personal interests. Here are some suggestions on striking a balance between the two.

On the one hand, we must abide by the principle that individual rights are protected by laws. If anyone infringes upon our personal interests such as speech freedom and right to be informedeven if in the name of job responsibilities, we should definitely hold the bottom line . On the other hand, our traditional culture advocates sacrificing personal interests for the common good. It is highly appraised that we minimize public benefits which may sometimes bring about personal loss in time, money or power. Therefore, a liberal attitude is indispensible so as to remain equal-minded.

In short, if confronted with a collision of job responsibilities and personal interests, we might as well take the temporary loss and gain as a test of our character. Trust our society and institution, and keep a balanced state of mind.

参考二:How to balance job responsibilities and personal interests(兴趣)

Personal interests are activities people enjoy outside of work, such as playing sports, spending time with family, watching movies and reading. Making a survey among employees under 30 about how they balance their job responsibilities and personal interests, CCTV reporters found that this is a challenge for most of interviewees.

The following suggestions can help workplace novices to strike a balance when jobs and interests collide. First, they must be aware that job responsibilities should be always in the first place during office hours. Therefore, this is no time for personal interests from 9am to 5pm. Second, they have right to pursue their personal interests in off hours, which is protected by labor laws. If required to undertake extra jobs, they might as well defy it. Only when they insist on this principle can they strike a balance between work and leisure time. At last, when job responsibilities cannot be avoided, they need to sacrifice some of their personal time and energy. After all, complaints and resentments are not constructive.

All in all, both job responsibilities and personal interests are indispensible part of their life, but a balanced state of mind is paramount when the two conflict. Just consider both their own right and obligations and make necessary concession.
