An Australian man described by prosecutors
as an obsessed anti-abortion protestor
has been found guilty of murder in a shooting
to death of security guard in the Melbourne clinic.
In July of last year Peter James Knight carried
the first ever attack on an abortion clinic of Australia.
He faces a maximum penalty of life
imprisonment and expected to be sentenced today
by the Supreme Court.
Knight entered the busy clinic with a rifle
and 40 rounds of ammunition concealed in a bag.
He said the shooting of the guard was an accident,
but prosecutors said he planned to kill the staff
and patients.
